Section 1 This College shall be known by the name of New Jersey York Rite College No. 18, meeting by the authority of the York Rite Sovereign College of North America, having its enlightened East in the City of Detroit, Michigan.
Section 2 This College also holds fealty to The Grand Lodge of the Most Ancient and Honorable Society of Free and Accepted Masons for the State of New Jersey.
ARTICLE II PURPOSES
Section 1 The purposes of the York Rite College are:
(a) To foster a spirit of cooperation and coordination among each of the bodies of York Rite Masonry;
(b) To assist in worthy efforts to improve the Ritualistic and Dramatic presentation of York Rite work;
(c) To conduct an educational program in order to inculcate a greater appreciation of the principles, ideals, and programs of York Rite Masonry;
(d) To strengthen York Rite Masonry in every possible manner;
(e) To build up a love of country and to aid and support genuine Americanism; and
(f) To reward outstanding service to York Rite Masonry by awards, honors, and other methods of proper recognition.
ARTICLE III MEMBERSHIP
Section 1 The College is an Honorary body, membership in which is by invitation only, and invitations shall be restricted to those who are members in good standing in a Symbolic Masonic Lodge, a Chapter of Royal Arch Masons, a Council of Royal and Select Masters, and a Commandery of Knights Templar.
Section 2 Recommendations for membership are to be completed on the official form and given to any member of the Membership Committee for approval by the Committee, after which the proposals are to be read at a meeting of the College, then scheduled for a secret ballot at the next meeting, and notice given to all members.
Section 3 If no objection is received in advance, the vote is unanimous, a written invitation to join the College, along with an official Application for Membership form shall be sent to the proposed Sir Knight.
Section 4 If a candidate be objected to prior to the ballot or rejected by ballot, his name may not be proposed again for a period of six months thereafter.
Section 5 A Companion Knight of York who is dropped from membership in any of the above-mentioned bodies automatically ceases to be a member of this York Rite College.
Section 6 A Companion Knight of York who is not indebted to the College for dues may withdraw or Demit from membership by so notifying the College in writing. No vote of the College is necessary.
ARTICLE IV OFFICERS
Section 1 The Officers of this College shall consist of a:
York Rite Governor
York Rite Deputy Governor
York Rite Chancellor
York Rite Treasurer
York Rite Secretary
York Rite Primate
York Rite Preceptor
York Rite Seneschal
York Rite Marshal
York Rite Sentinel
and as many York Rite Heralds as the York Rite Governor may desire to appoint.
Section 2 The first five Officers shall be elected at the Annual Assembly of the York Rite College by a majority vote of the members present, and of these five, the York Rite Governor, the York Rite Deputy Governor, and the York Rite Chancellor shall constitute the Council for this College
Section 3 The remaining Officers shall be appointed by the York Rite Governor at the Annual Assembly.
Section 4 In the event of a vacancy in any elective office, the vacancy shall be filled at an election to be held at the next regular Assembly.
Section 5 As compensation for his services, the Secretary shall receive at the Annual Assembly an Honorarium of $1.00 per capita of the membership in good standing at that time.
ARTICLE V ASSEMBLY
Section 1 The Annual Assembly of this College shall be held in the month of May. There shall also be three other regular Assemblies held in the months of September, December, and March, respectively, of each fiscal year, at such time and place as the York Rite Governor shall direct.
Section 2 Special Assemblies of the College may be called for the Good of the Order, at such time and place as the York Rite Governor shall direct, but no business shall be transacted other than such as shall be stated in the printed Notice of the call for the Assembly, which Notice must be forwarded to each member at least 10 days prior to the date of the special Assembly.
Section 3 A quorum for the transaction of business shall consist of nine (9) Companion Knights.
ARTICLE VI COMMITTEES
Section 1 Immediately following his election, the York Rite Governor shall appoint the following Committees:

Crusader Correspondent Temple Room & Equipment
Finance York Rite Cooperation
Gold Awards
ARTICLE VII DUES AND FEES
Section 1 The Initiatory Fess for membership in this College shall be $60.00, payable with the application forms.
Section 2 The Annual Dues for members of this College shall be $5.00, plus any per capita dues or assessments levied by the Sovereign College, payable in advance on or before the first of June of each year.
ARTICLE VIII FISCAL YEAR
Section 1 The fiscal year of this College shall begin each year on June 1st and end the following year on May 31st.
ARTICLE IX FUNDS
Section 1 The York Rite Treasurer or the York Rite Governor is empowered to sign checks on the funds of the College upon issuance of warrants by the York Rite Secretary indicating the amounts have been approved by a majority of the College.
ARTICLE X AMENDMENTS
Section 1 Proposals to amend these By-Laws shall be presented at a regular Assembly of the College, in writing, signed by three (3)members, and must be held over until the next regular Assembly of the College, during which time, but not less than ten days before the next meeting, the York Rite Secretary shall notify the members of such proposed amendments. Such amendments shall not be effective unless they are adopted by a two-thirds vote of the members present and until they have been approved by the York Rite Sovereign College of North America.

The By-Laws as printed above reflect a number of amendments proposed as part of a general revision, discussed and adopted March 12, 1983 and September 10, 1983, and approved by the Governor General, Gordon H. Stuart on May 11, 1984.
